Hi, I’m Tom — the one person behind Bromptom, a personal blog about Brompton and folding bikes. I take your privacy seriously, and I’ve tried to write this policy in plain English rather than legalese. The short version: this is a simple static website, it doesn’t track you, and the only time it ever collects any personal information is when you choose to message me through the contact form.

Who I am
Bromptom (the site at bromptom.com) is a hobby blog run by an individual based in Singapore. I’m the person responsible for the site and for any personal data it handles. If you’d like to get in touch about anything in this policy, you can email me directly at tom@bromptom.com.
What data I collect, and why
The website itself does not require you to hand over any personal information just to read it. The only place where I collect personal data is the contact form. When you fill it in, you may provide:
- your name,
- your email address,
- your phone number (if you choose to add it), and
- the message you write.
I collect this information for one reason only: so that I can read your message and reply to you. When you submit the form, those details are simply emailed straight to my inbox. I don’t use them to build a profile of you, I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t feed them into any marketing system.
Lawful basis and consent
Because the contact form is something you fill in voluntarily, I rely on your consent as the basis for handling the details you send — by submitting the form, you’re asking me to use your information to get back to you. Where I continue to correspond with you afterwards, I do so on the basis of my legitimate interest in answering your enquiry. You’re always free to withdraw your consent and ask me to delete your details (see Your rights below).
How your data is used and stored
Your message arrives as an ordinary email and lives in my email account alongside our conversation. I use it solely to understand what you’re asking and to respond. I keep your details secure to the best of my ability through the reasonable security measures provided by my email provider, such as account passwords and encrypted connections.
I never sell or share your data
I do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise hand over your personal information to third parties for their own use. The details you send me through the contact form stay between you and me. The only “third party” involved is the email provider that delivers and stores the message on my behalf, which is a normal part of how email works.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
This site does not set its own cookies, and it does not run any analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising. I don’t use Google Analytics or any equivalent, so I’m not building visitor profiles or watching what you click. You can browse Bromptom without being tracked by me.
Third-party embeds and external links
Some pages include embedded YouTube videos. To protect your privacy, these are loaded as lightweight “facades” — you’ll see a preview image, and the actual YouTube player is only loaded if you click to play. That means YouTube (owned by Google) generally doesn’t receive your data unless you choose to start a video, at which point YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.
I also link out to other websites — bike shops, manufacturers, news articles and the like. Once you follow a link away from Bromptom, you’re on someone else’s site, and I have no control over how they handle your data. I’d encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
How long I keep your data
I keep the emails you send me only for as long as they’re useful — that is, long enough to answer you and to keep a record of our conversation in case you follow up. If your message no longer serves any purpose, or if you ask me to remove it, I’ll delete it from my inbox. I don’t hold on to contact-form data indefinitely for its own sake.
Your rights
You have rights over the personal data I hold about you. Under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) — and, where it applies to you, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — you can:
- Access the personal data I hold about you;
- Correct anything that’s inaccurate or out of date;
- Request deletion of your data;
- Withdraw consent to my further use of your data; and
- where GDPR applies, ask me to restrict or object to certain processing, or to provide your data in a portable format.
I won’t charge you for exercising these rights, and I’ll do my best to respond promptly.
