RATING – A REALLY HANDY ADDITION FOR YOUR RIDE – 9/10!

Intro

The TWTOPSE S bag is the budget-friendly, unofficial version of the Brompton S bag. It is my first front carrier bag on any bike I’ve ever owned. I couldn’t resist purchasing one; they ooze style and class and are ridiculously convenient. Splashing out 80sgd on the bag was a bit of a gamble; however, buyers’ ratings of the bag seemed primarily optimistic. I took the plunge!

Review

Discovering the TWTOPSE S bag’s capacity was a delightful surprise. It comfortably accommodates more than you’d expect: my laptop, a change of clothes, a towel, a drinks bottle, a wallet, keys, and a phone, with the side/back pockets still available for more items. It’s like a Tardis in the form of a bike bag!

The TWTOPSE S bag has become a permanent fixture on my bike, even when it’s empty – you never know when you might need to toss something in! The convenience of quickly stashing items in the bag while on the go is truly impressive. And despite its size and position, it doesn’t interfere with my riding experience at all. After just 5 minutes on your bike, you’ll feel completely comfortable riding with it – even when it’s full and weighted.

When I reach work, I simply unclick the bag from the carrier block and carry it on my shoulder up to my office. There’s no faffing around with clips or Velcro straps to undo. It’s so simple and easy.

Riding in Singapore with a backpack can be sweaty and tiring. But with the TWTOPSE S bag, the weight is distributed in a way that doesn’t impact the ride quality significantly. The front stem and wheel bear the weight, making the steering a bit heavier and cornering slightly different at first. But I was pleasantly surprised by how little influence the bag has on the overall ride quality.

People take pride in their belongings. They clean their bikes. They purchase upgrades for things to look, sound and perform better. My main squirm with this bag is an easily fixable one. At the front, top centre, of the bag, there lay a defect—aesthetic only; some poor sewing work.

After reaching out to TWTOPSE for comment, asking whether I could purchase a new front cover from them, they declined and mentioned that all the bags have this defect. Okay. I might add a black Sharpie to try to get rid of the glue and see if it is less noticeable.

Conclusion

Is the quality worth the price? Yes. Apart from the minor blemish, which really should be improved, the bag is a huge hit!
